No Wait for Weights Complete
UPDATE: I’ve been away from the blog world for a bit. My best friend is getting married and I’ve had a number of personal things on my plate as well. Because of how busy I was, I wasn’t as dedicated to photographing my food as usual, so I’ve decided to NOT go back and report on everything that you’ve missed. This was a hard decision for me to make, but in the end I think it’s best. No one wants to read a lengthy post that lists foods without pictures to go along with. I hope that you, as my … Continue reading

Fruit Salad Revamped
Fruit salad. You cut up some fruit and throw it in a dish. If you’ve planned well, you cut the fruit up the night before you serve the salad so that all of the juices from the different fruits have a chance to meet and mix. Kind of like a big fruit pool party. Well, I have another way to revamp the fruit salad and it’s easy. It’s also totally worth the little extra effort as it gives a nice citrus zing to the salad. Surprise your guests’ taste buds with something new. I did. RECIPE: LIME-HONEY DRESSED FRUIT SALAD … Continue reading
The Stove is Off
The Stove is OFF. No cooking for this girl, considering that it feels like an oven outside. Last night the Hubs picked up a Pepe’s pizza on the way home from work. Pepe’s is a famous pizza place that is original to the Little Italy of New Haven, CT. I have seen it featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel. What makes Pepe’s pizza so incredible is their brick-oven style crust and delicious tomato sauce. New Haven is a little far from NYC, but luckily for us, there is a branch location in Yonkers, NY, which just so happens … Continue reading

My Favorite Ab Exercises
Seeing as my current Shabbott’s Habit is “No wait for weights”, I thought that I would share my top 5 favorite ab exercises with you. When I workout my abs I like to feel a good burn, so I try for 25-50 repetitions of each exercise instead of my normal 15. 1. BALL EXCHANGES You can really feel this exercise in your lower abs, which I find is sometimes a hard area to effectively work out. For ball exchanges, I use the smallest exercise ball (not the big one that you do crunches on). To me this is just more … Continue reading
Mango Chipotle Cilantro Chicken
Mango. Chipotle. Cilantro. Chicken. All ingredients that I love. So I knew when I saw the Chipotle-Mango BBQ Chicken over at Pip & Ebby that I had to make it. I made some adjustments (like adding lime zest and brown sugar and subbing red wine vinegar for rice vinegar) to suit my own taste buds, but really the credit goes to Pip & Ebby for their innovative combination of flavors. The great thing about this sauce is that its both sweet and smoky at the same time. I could see this smothered on fish or even used as a condiment … Continue reading
My Real Job
Although the larger part of my week is spent at “work”, I often gloss over my normal work day on the blog. This leaves people wondering what I do for a living. I have unintentionally provided some clues: pictures of my desk, mention of Presbyterian Hospital, some acknowledgment of my job in “about me” lists, references to conferences that I attend and a map my run route of my daily get-out-from-behind-the-desk-lunch-time walk. I have wondered whether telling you more about my job would be too personal, but after performing a quick Google search, realized that you could find most of … Continue reading
