Portion Contortion Habit COMPLETE
Well everyone, I’m checking off my healthy habits list one at a time and things are going great! I just finished my recent Shabbott’s Habits: Portion Contortion on December 19. I’m just posting about it now, because I didn’t want to interrupt the very important Five Days of Cookies for Christmas. Don’t forget that I’ve also successfully completed some other important healthy habits this year. Click the links below to find out more. Drinking more water Doing more cardio Eating breakfast everyday Getting more sleep Eating more fruits and veggies Adding strengthening exercises to my routine Reducing the empty calories in my diet … Continue reading
Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
Day 1: Homemade Peppermint Patties Day 2: Almond-Oate Lace Cookies Day 3: The Classic Buttery Spritz Which brings us to Day 4 – Chocolate Sandwich Cookies. Why have one cookie, when you can have two cookies? And why have two cookies, when you can have two cookies with a layer of rich buttercream in the middle? We’re all on the same page, right? Right. Good. As part of the holidays this year, I took part in The Great Food Blogger Cookie Exchange. In addition to sending out cookies to three different bloggers, I also received a dozen cookies from three … Continue reading
Lots of Running Around
My Saturday and Sunday consisted of lots of running around – of different types. Saturday started with some scrambled eggs and salsa, served with coffee. Then the Hubs and I were out and about the entire afternoon and evening. Christmas shopping was on the to-do list and was it ever busy! I munched some drive-through chicken nuggets in the car to keep me going mid-afternoon. Saturday evening we hung out with some friends and then hit up some BBQ for dinner. Pulled pork, mac n cheese, green beans and cornbread from Smokey’s in Hamden, CT. _______________________________________________________ Current Shabbott’s Habit: Portion Contortion I … Continue reading
Asleep by 8pm
Friday night. A night that should be filled with parties, wine, dinners out, movies and time with friends. Or an extremely tired Husband who falls asleep at 8 pm on the couch with the dog In his defense, he does get up at 4:15 on weekdays (ouch!). For Friday breakfast I enjoyed a bran muffin and coffee. Salad lunch. Banana for snack. And a quick crock-pot inspired soup for dinner that couldn’t be easier! Served with grilled cheese, of course. RECIPE: CROCKPOT SWEET POTATO AND PARSNIP SOUP Ingredients: 2 Medium Sweet Potatoes 2 Medium Parsnips 1 Medium Onion 4 C. … Continue reading
Gym Fail and Christmas Parties
This morning was a total gym fail. I had an awful night’s sleep (tossing and turning, waking up at 4am, etc.). When my 5:45 am alarm went off for the gym, I hit snooze and contemplated turning it off to sleep in. I finally dragged myself out of bed around 6:15 am and decided to go to the gym. Only this happened. The parkway (Sawmill River Parkway) was closed due to flooding! I literally couldn’t get to the gym. My gym is right off of the parkway and the back roads were jam-packed with commuter traffic. Ugh. I settled for … Continue reading
Photos For The Win
Blogging is something that I take seriously. Sometimes I get comments from my friends like, “Wow! I give you credit. You really keep up with your blog.” Or, “how do you find time to keep up with your blog?” The answer is simple: I make time for the blog because it is something that I truly enjoy and I firmly believe in the importance of forming and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. That being said, sometimes life [or plain laziness] gets in the way. So with that, I present some photos from the past four days in which I did not … Continue reading
