Hunger Games x 2
Hi friends. How was your weekend? Not long enough, I’m sure Hubs and I had a weekend at home, which was much needed. I had some blood-work scheduled as part of a physical on Saturday morning, so the Hubs and I grabbed a quick breakfast out together at Dino’s Deli on the Upper East Side afterwards. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. The first thing that they brought to the table were our “hash browns.” Do they look like those cheap-o taters that you buy in the frozen section of your grocery store for like a buck? Yeah, they did to … Continue reading

Weekend With Girls and Shake Shack
Sometimes you just need some time with the ladies. I mean, hanging out with the Hubs is great and all, but other days I’d easily trade Sports Center, beer and post-shaving nubbies in the sink for shopping, wine and pedicures with the girls. That’s why I was so happy when my bff, Lauren, arranged a girls weekend in the city for 6 lovely ladies. Saturday morning, I packed up my overnight bag and ate a wonderful broccoli and cheese omelette before kissing the Hubs goodbye for the day. After a little wine and catching up, we hit up the salon … Continue reading

Overcoming The No Run Slump
I’m officially off the high that I got from being able to run the NYC Marathon on Saturday. If you’ve been following, then you know that I recently suffered a posterior tibial tendon injury and was rehabbing with hopes to run the race with my family. Luckily for me, it worked out in the short term. Now that the race is over, I’m slowing coming to terms with the long lasting effects of this injury. Simply put, I need to rest my foot in order for it to heal. In other words, I need to stop running. This is not … Continue reading

WD-50 and Family Fun
This weekend was the NYC Half-marathon. I was lucky enough to win a spot in the lottery as was my sister and brother-in-law, who flew in from Denver, CO for the occasion. Despite my recent injuries, I was determined to run the race with my family, which is why I’ve been rehabbing my foot like a champion. Before the race on Sunday, my family embarked on a little NYC fun. Friday afternoon I picked up my sister, Jobie and brother-in-law, Phil from the airport. We headed back to my apartment and got ready for a special treat: WD-50. Cross that … Continue reading
Gateway to the West
This past weekend the Hubs and I flew to St. Louis, Missouri for a wedding. While, I was at Penn State, I shared my laboratory office with a very talented scientist who was getting married to her equally-talented scientist fiance’. I betcha they’ll have really smart kids Saturday morning, Hubs and I were up early and ready for a fantastic St. Louis breakfast. We were staying in the downtown area, so we settled on Rooster, which was recommended to us and received really great reviews. After first glance at the menu, I immediately knew that I wanted one of their … Continue reading
Happy Valentine’s Day
I hope that everyone had a wonderful, love-filled Valentine’s Day. I certainly did My Valentine’s Day was appropriately filled with lots of RED and a little bit of chocolate. RED strawberries for breakfast. Topped with yogurt, then vanilla. RED tomato soup for lunch. A little Godiva chocolate (x 2) that found it’s way to my desk. Back off elephant! For dinner, the Hubs and I decided to cross Arthur Ave in the Bronx (the REAL Little Italy) off the NYC Bucket List, so we headed to Roberto, which got rave reviews on Yelp. source The restaurant was dimly lit with … Continue reading
