Sleep Like A Baby Complete

Sleep

After a good-night’s rest this I evening I will have completed my fourth Shabbott’s Habit: Sleep Like a Baby.  With Sleep Like a Baby, my goal was to get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep each night for 28 nights straight.  I also set out to be more mindful of my sleep habits, like eliminating caffeine before bed and minimizing noise (hello, earplugs). Looking back on the past 28 days, I must admit that making the time to get the proper amount of sleep has been difficult.  For me, that fact alone has really put in to perspective how … Continue reading

My 100th Post!!!

100

When I opened up my posts on Friday afternoon, there it was:  99 published posts. That would make this my 100th post. But, shortly after lunch, I was off to Delanco, NJ to attend some pre-wedding and wedding events.  When I arrived to my hotel and plugged in my computer to write my blog entry, I realized that the connection was beyond slow.  Uploading pictures was virtually impossible. I contemplated doing a text-only post, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.  Not for my 100th post people! So, here is my 100th post – late is better than never … Continue reading

Vitamin D Here I Come

Shorts-in-NYC

It was a high temperature of 82 F in NYC today.  The sun was shining and I could actually feel the warmth on my skin So, after a day filled with reading and research for a project at work, I decided to get out and get some fresh air to recharge.  I put on my yoga pants, then just before leaving, decided to change into shorts. That’s right…these legs haven’t seen the NYC sun for a very long time.  Vitamin D, Here I come!!! I absolutely HAD to stay up late last night.  There was just no getting around it.  … Continue reading

Midweek Leek

Potato-leek-soup

Unfortunately, while canned and store-bought soups are a quick lunch or dinner choice, they are also full of sodium and other mystery ingredients: monosodium glutamate, sodium phosphate, modified food starch, maltodextrin.  I even saw a can of soup that listed “spice” as an ingredient, in addition to “chicken flavor.”  Yeah, Campbells, that’s not vague. For that reason, I really love to make my own homemade soups.  I know what I’m putting into my soup pot and I can be sure that it’s healthy.  Plus, my soups are generally simple, contain few ingredients and taste better than canned soups (if I … Continue reading

Muffin Celebration

Chocolate-chip-banana-muffins

I realized that I haven’t baked in a bit, and there were two lonely over-ripened bananas that were sitting on my counter just screaming to be used. “I need to be made into a baked good,” the small one cried.  “I know that I’m brown, but please don’t put me in the trash,” said the other. Lucky for those bananas, I was in a good mood.  You see, it’s been 6 weeks since my ankle sprain, and today was my first run since the injury.  Three miles on the treadmill – and oh was I excited!  There’s reason to celebrate!  … Continue reading

Saturday Sunday Review

Hello. How was your weekend? Mine was busy…and fun!  My BFF, Lauren, was in town for a visit. Hence this abbreviated version of my Saturday and Sunday. SATURDAY: Started with an egg-white sandwich on a bagel thin with turkey bacon.  I love turkey bacon.  All the flavor of real bacon, but less greasy and way better for you.  The secret to cooking turkey bacon is to keep it very flat in your pan and cook it until it’s crispy. After breakfast I made it to the gym for a quick 40 minutes on the elliptical and some tricep/bicep exercises. Lunch … Continue reading
