St John: Things To Do

RamsHeadUs

While we were on the island of St. John, we spent a lot of time on the beautiful beaches that can be found scattered about the island. But, we also found time to do some other activities.  As I mentioned before, St. John is mostly National Park, so there are plenty of great hikes.  Luckily, we had a 4-wheel drive Jeep to get us around the hilly island.  Believe me, you needed it! Additionally, the nearby British Virgin Islands offer some unique sights as well. Here are some of the great excursions and hikes that we did in St. John. … Continue reading

St John: The Beaches and Beach House

StJohnView2

Hello everyone!  I’m happy to say that I’m back from my blogging hiatus! I have soooooooooo much to share with you over the next couple of days, so I’ll try and break it down by category. Of course, I’m starting with my wonderful trip to the island of St. John, which was absolutely spectacular. The island of St. John is a US Virgin Island just west of St. Thomas, but it differs from most other islands in that the majority of the land and beaches are reserved as National Park. It’s wonderful – the beaches are basically untouched.  In fact, … Continue reading

Where I’ve been and where I’m going

Hello friends. Wondering where I’ve been?  Sorry that I’ve been missing in action lately, but there are some changes that are happening in my life and I’ve needed the extra time to wrap up some important things.  I’ll definitely be sure to fill you in when I get back from vacation next week. And speaking of vacation… Hubs and I arrived to St. John USVI last night. We immediately enjoyed some drinks at a local bar. This morning we enjoyed some homemade pancakes a la Hubs at the Villa that we rented for the week. I also enjoyed coffee on … Continue reading

Taking It Easy

LGASaladBar

Good morning friends. My foot was feeling a little sore after I was treated for some possible posterior tibial tendonitis, so I took it easy on Thursday and didn’t go to the gym. Instead, I took a certain someone for a nice big long walk and then iced my foot before work. Betcha can’t guess what I had for breakfast. Yep, yogurt with fresh strawberries and some granola.  Sorry that my breakfast this week has been so repetitive, but fresh strawberries were buy one get one free at the grocery store and I wasn’t about to pass that up. For … Continue reading

The Family that Trots Together…

Group

I had such an amazing weekend with my family in Clearfield, PA.  With my sister and brother-in-law in Denver, CO, the Hubs and I in New York and my parents and brother in central Pennsylvania, we don’t often get the chance to hangout all together. Saturday was definitely the post-Thanksgiving highlight.  We started our day with what I hope becomes a new tradition:  A TURKEY TROT!!!  My sister, Jobie, and brother-in-law, Phil, joined the Hubs and I for a 5-mile race in nearby Hollidaysburg, PA.  Given the 1 hour 15 minute drive that it took to get there, plus the … Continue reading

Welcome Home and Pizza

Pepes-Pizza

Wednesday morning began with a run in the National Mall and another Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal before wrapping up the Society for Neuroscience Conference.  It was raining, so I didn’t whip the Iphone out for any photos…sawy. Anyway, my afternoon consisted of a MegaBus ride from Washington D.C. back to NYC. Unfortunately I was rushing around and almost missed the bus, which meant that I didn’t have time to grab lunch before boarding.  Thank goodness for packed snacks!  Always pack snacks people Anyway, while I was on the bus, the person seated ahead of me kept snapping photos over and over … Continue reading
