A Better Buffalo Bite
Buffalo chicken bites are delicious. Unfortunately, this bar-food consists of God-knows-what part of the chicken, which is typically covered in batter, fried and then drenched in buffalo sauce. Let’s just say that it’s not the healthiest option. Tonight, however, I made a better buffalo bite. One that uses chicken breast, which is breaded in Panko bread crumbs, baked and lightly dipped in hot sauce. And it passed the ultimate taste test – it was Hubs approved. RECIPE: BETTER BUFFALO BITE [2-3 servings] Ingredients 2 Boneless skinless chicken breasts 2 Eggs 2 C. Panko bread crumbs 1/4 C. All-purpose flour 1/4 … Continue reading

Boozy Chicken
First, check out my newly updated pages: About page Habits page Back in college, at Penn State, my BFF – Lauren – worked at a place called Duffy’s Tavern. Duffy’s was mostly known by the college kids for their cheap wings in the Tavern section of the establishment, but was known by others for the the fantastic food in their fine-dining restaurant. This boozed-up chicken was inspired by one of Duffy’s finer dishes. An unlikely combination of ingredients that just works. RECIPE: AMARETTO ALMOND CHICKEN Serves 3 Ingredients: 3 Chicken breasts 2-3 C. Sliced mushrooms 2 Tbsp. Margarine or Butter … Continue reading

New Shabbotts Habit and Lent
Don’t forget about the Bobble Bottle giveaway! You must comment by tonight at 11:59 (EST) to win [Click HERE for giveaway post]. So, my new love for Peanut Butter & Co. Cinnamon Raisin Swirl has led me to eating what I believe to be waaaay too much peanut butter for dessert in the evenings. Especially because I’ve been slathering the stuff on my morning oats. That’s why I’ve decided to give up nut butters after dinner for lent 40 days without dipping my spoon in a nut butter jar. I think I can make it. *Edit 3/10/11: A reader … Continue reading

Hello world!!!
Welcome to Shabbott’s Habits, a blog devoted to attaining a healthier lifestyle by forming healthy habits one at a time over the course of a year. Over the years, I’ve developed an interest in nutrition, fitness and general health and have been pretty successful in living an average healthy life. In the past, when I’ve vowed to become an even healthier individual, I formed ambitious and down-right unattainable goals for a person working full-time. For example, I’d say that I was going to eat “this” and “not this,” exercise “this much everyday,” give up my beloved Diet Coke and limit … Continue reading
