Peanut Butter Tassies
Day 1: Homemade Peppermint Patties Day 2: Almond-Oat Lace Cookies Day 3: The Classic Buttery Spritz Day 4: Chocolate Sandwich Cookies This brings us to the last day of my 5 Days of Cookies: Peanut Butter Tassies! Peanut Butter Tassies are one of those cookies that brings back memories of past Christmases, when I was a little girl and my mom would make big batches of cookies for me, my little sister and my little brother. We always had peanut butter tassies. And really, what could be better than a peanut butter cookie with a Reese’s peanut butter cup stuck right in the … Continue reading

Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
Day 1: Homemade Peppermint Patties Day 2: Almond-Oate Lace Cookies Day 3: The Classic Buttery Spritz Which brings us to Day 4 – Chocolate Sandwich Cookies. Why have one cookie, when you can have two cookies? And why have two cookies, when you can have two cookies with a layer of rich buttercream in the middle? We’re all on the same page, right? Right. Good. As part of the holidays this year, I took part in The Great Food Blogger Cookie Exchange. In addition to sending out cookies to three different bloggers, I also received a dozen cookies from three … Continue reading
The Classic Buttery Spritz
Day 1: Homemade Peppermint Patties Day 2: Almond-Oat Lace Cookies Which brings us to day 3 – The Classic Buttery Spritz. When the Hubs and I were dating I can remember making a list of baked goodies for what would be our first holiday-baking spree together. Me: ”What’s your favorite Christmas cookie. I want to be sure that we make it.” Hubs: ”Green trees.” Me: ”Green trees?” Hubs: ”Yeah, you know. They’re green cookies in the shape of a tree.” Me: ”I got that much. But, what are they made of?” Hubs: ”I don’t know. Cookie dough, I guess.” Me: … Continue reading

Almond-Oat Lace Cookies
My Christmas present to you – 5 days of cookies – continues today with the very unique and tasty Almond-Oat Lace Cookie. But first, if you missed yesterday’s post, be sure to check out my Homemade Peppermint Patties. They’re pretty awesome. Every year I pick one or two new cookies to make. I like to try new recipes in hopes of adding to my holiday favorites (like the much-requested Nut Horns). This year, while flipping through my Holiday Bon Appetit, I couldn’t help but notice these beautiful Almond-Oat Lace Cookies. I loved the idea of making a cookie that was … Continue reading

Homemade Peppermint Patties
I wanted to give you all something for Christmas. And seeing as I just made a boatload of Christmas cookies, my first thought was to wrap up packages of cookies and send them to all of you. But, then I realized that I might not have quite enough cookies. Or stamps So, how about this instead? You like that? I hope so The first recipe that I’d like to share with you is for homemade peppermint patties. This is something that I have never made before, but I was pleasantly surprised by how great they tasted. Much better than the … Continue reading
Running and Baking
As I mentioned last week, I went ahead and signed myself up for the Manhattan half marathon (See Post HERE). This means that I need to bump up my mileage, so that I don’t poop out on miles 10-13. I don’t necessarily mind running on a treadmill, but anything over 5 miles will send me straight outside. Today’s run was 8 miles. It was 27 degrees and windy. Ouch. Now, I’m not a huge fan of the cold. In fact, when everyone else is hot, I’m usually just fine. And when everyone else is just fine, then I’m usually cold. … Continue reading
