Weekend With Girls and Shake Shack

Burger

Sometimes you just need some time with the ladies. I mean, hanging out with the Hubs is great and all, but other days I’d easily trade Sports Center, beer and post-shaving nubbies in the sink for shopping, wine and pedicures with the girls. That’s why I was so happy when my bff, Lauren, arranged a girls weekend in the city for 6 lovely ladies. Saturday morning, I packed up my overnight bag and ate a wonderful broccoli and cheese omelette before kissing the Hubs goodbye for the day. After a little wine and catching up, we hit up the salon … Continue reading

A Bridal Tea Party

Flowers-balloons

This weekend I traveled to Pennsylvania to help throw a bridal shower for my best friend, Abi.  Abi and I met at Penn State when we both became members of the Penn State Cheerleading team.  A group of six of us – Abi, Lauren, Jess, Jeannine, Jacki and I – became very close during our undergraduate days on the cheer team and remain close today. I was so excited when Abi asked me to be a part of her special day and was even happier to learn that our entire group of friends, in addition to the groom’s sister, would … Continue reading

RECIPE:  EASY GRILLED VEGETABLES Ingredients: 1 Medium zucchini 1 Medium yellow squash 1 Large red … Continue reading

Friday Saturday

Hike-woods

Here’s a little combined Friday and Saturday post for ya’ll (Sorry, I just watched Paula Dean and I couldn’t resist). FRIDAY: Friday morning started out with a killer oh-so-sweaty workout.  I’ve started to incorporate stabilization and core into my normal lifting routine and this added exertion has me sweating bullets at the gym.  I always say that I’m not there to look cute – I’m not one of those cutesy matchy-matchy workout outfits kinda gal.  But I’ve seriously been a hot sweaty mess lately and I wonder what people think of me. 60 minutes elliptical Tricep/Bicep exercises Breakfast Friday morning … Continue reading

Family-inspired Mango Salsa

Mango-Salsa

When I was in Connecticut this past weekend, I went over to visit my sister-in-law. Our conversation went something like this: Sis: “Hey, Mike made me the most amazing meal the other night.  I almost posted a pic on Facebook just for you.”  [Mike is her chef husband...I know, I know, how lucky is she?] Me: “What was it?” Sis: “Fish with pineapple mango salsa.  It was sooooo good.  And healthy too!  The mango salsa just had mango, pineapple, red onion, lime juice and cilantro.  You could put it on chicken too.  You should make it for your blog!” Me:  … Continue reading
