Shabbott’s Habits: The BIG wrap-up
WOW! What a year it has been. On February 9, 2011, I set out to form 13 healthy habits over the course of one year. Today I’m wrapping up my big project by writing a summary of my experience. I’ve always been interested in healthy living. In high school I was involved with cheerleading and gymnastics, and in college I was honored to be a part of the Penn State Cheerleading Squad for 4 years. Cheering at Penn State was an experience that I am so thankful for. Not only did I get to experience the University at a … Continue reading

Whoa, whoa, whoa – did those 28 days go by fast or what? Feeling better
As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve been feeling a little under the weather. I don’t know if I was actually sick or if I simply had post-vacation blues, but I took the day off from the gym to nab a little extra shut-eye. I’m feeling much better now. Revived! Breakfast this morning was a big bowl of fresh strawberries (1.5 C serving fruit) with yogurt and raw oats. If you haven’t tried raw oats as a topping, you really should. Their flavor is hard to explain, but is slightly doughy. Almost like a raw cookie dough – and who doesn’t like … Continue reading
Recipe Mix Up
Something unexpected happened today. I saw a recipe for Bran Flax Muffins on the back of my Bob’s Red Mill package of flax meal and decided that I would make the muffins to share with all of you today. I organized the ingredients, preheated the oven, snapped a bunch of step-by-step photos and baked. Then I tasted them. They’re meh. Not bad. Not great. Because, as the Hubs said “they don’t really taste like anything.” Then I made dinner using a vegetable that I had never cooked with before – Kabocha Squash (wiki it). This round green veggie is sometimes … Continue reading
Breakfast of Champions Complete!
On April 6, I set out to form my latest Shabbott’s Habit: Breakfast of Champions. My goal was to have a healthy and well-balanced breakfast each and every day for 28 days straight. When I first started this blog, the idea of sticking to one habit was daunting, but now I’m proud to say that I have successfully completed my third Shabbott’s Habit! By focusing on my breakfast routine for 28 days, it was my hope that a healthy and well-balanced breakfast would become habit. This is all part of my larger to plan to form 13 healthy habits over … Continue reading
