Lazy Dayz

Huge-Chicken-Salad

MONDAY: Do you ever feel lazy after coming home from a trip? I certainly have the last couple of days.  It doesn’t help that I flew in from South Carolina very early on Monday morning, then took a cab right to work Mucho coffee was needed. BTW, if you missed my trip to Charleston, SC you should check out these posts: Charleston, SC – Days 1 & 2 Charleston, SC – Day 3 Since I didn’t stop home before work, I had to make due with a lonely yogurt that was hanging out in the back of my work mini-fridge … Continue reading

My Real Job

Me - analyzing data

Although the larger part of my week is spent at “work”, I often gloss over my normal work day on the blog. This leaves people wondering what I do for a living. I have unintentionally provided some clues: pictures of my desk, mention of Presbyterian Hospital, some acknowledgment of my job in “about me” lists, references to conferences that I attend and a map my run route of my daily get-out-from-behind-the-desk-lunch-time walk. I have wondered whether telling you more about my job would be too personal, but after performing a quick Google search, realized that you could find most of … Continue reading

Oh Baby Baby

Me-Xander

Today started with an early breakfast so that we could pick up my car from the auto-body shop and head to Connecticut to visit the Hub’s family.  I whipped up a quick egg white omelette with two egg whites and some low fat mozzarella cheese, served with a big pile of strawberries and mango on the side (1.5 C serving). When we arrive in CT, we unpacked and visited for a bit before having lunch.  Because I knew we were having pizza for dinner, I loaded up my plate with lots of veggies.  Carrots (1 C serving), celery (1 C … Continue reading

Last Night Of Injury Blues

Pizza-cooked

I admit it. I’ve been wallowing in my own sorrow all week. I sprained my ankle.  But it’s not the end of the world. Yet, I spent the week being depressed, unmotivated and downright lazy. Tonight, I’m over it. Tomorrow I’m going to visit my parents in central PA.  I’ll be back on Sunday evening.  First thing Monday morning, I’m checking out a new gym that has a pool and rowing machine. Caitlin, over at Healthy Tipping Point is injured as well.  And she’s getting in the pool!  That’s why I love healthy living blogs so much – they’re motivation.  … Continue reading

Baking For Baby

Strawberry-banana-smoothie-2

I’ve been baking all day.  Literally, from noon until 7:30 pm, I was up to my elbows in sugar cookie dough and royal icing.  I’m exhausted.  But it’s all worth it for the adorable cookies that are wrapped up and waiting for my sister-in-law’s baby shower tomorrow.  You see, I’m going to be an Auntie!  Even better, I’m going to have a Godson I don’t want to spoil the cookie surprise for relatives who read the blog, so I’ll share the recipe and photos tomorrow.  But, I promise, they’re tasty.  I may have been the baker, but I was also … Continue reading

Back to Normal, Almost

Blueberry-Muffin-Vit-Water

Its always so hard to get back to normal after traveling.  Especially when your trip involves a three hour time change, a birthday celebration in Vegas… See also – Your Vegas is Showing: Part I and Your Vegas is Showing: Part II …and one delayed flight home. After last night’s flight, I was too tired (and mildly motion-sick) to have a proper dinner, so this morning I treated myself to a low-fat blueberry muffin, coffee, and “Energy” Vitamin Water.  Sometimes you just need to listen to your body, and this morning, my body was saying “Muffin for breakfast!” Lunch was … Continue reading
