Overcoming The No Run Slump

SalmonSpinach

I’m officially off the high that I got from being able to run the NYC Marathon on Saturday. If you’ve been following, then you know that I recently suffered a posterior tibial tendon injury and was rehabbing with hopes to run the race with my family.  Luckily for me, it worked out in the short term. Now that the race is over, I’m slowing coming to terms with the long lasting effects of this injury.  Simply put, I need to rest my foot in order for it to heal.  In other words, I need to stop running.  This is not … Continue reading

Empire State and Pastrami

Empire1

Weird blog title, I know. But Saturday the Hubs and I decided to knock off a couple of things that we haven’t managed to do since moving to NYC:  The Empire State Building and Katz’s Deli. If you live in NYC, then you know that Saturday was glorious for January!  The sun was out and actually felt warm, and the city was buzzing with activity as a result. Hubs and I started our day with some brunch at Sarabeth’s on the Upper West Side.  We met up with some of the Hubs’s meteorology friends from grad school that were in … Continue reading

Fall-Flavored Treats

There are many, many things that I love about the Fall season: The fresh Fall air The colors in the trees College football Pumpkin Apple picking Fall fashion etc… I also love all of the *specialty* items that come out in Fall.  Like pumpkin-flavored goodies and cinnamon-spiced drinks and lattes.  Over the past two days, I got to try two Fall-inspired ice creams and I loved them both! Monday night I tried Baskin’s Robbins Trick or Treat Oreo.  Holy yum!  This vanilla ice cream is loaded with black and orange goodness – orange filled Oreos, Butterfingers and Baby Ruth. Tuesday … Continue reading

Old Friends and Pizza

Brit-Ash

Have you seen this photo before? Yeah, probably.  I’ve had this breakfast ALL week long.  I’m totally obsessed, although I’m out of strawberries, so you’ll most likely see something different tomorrow. I was excited to have lunch with my best friend from High School today.  Ashlee is staying up the Hudson river with her husband, Jake, at the Copeland House in Cortlandt Manner for a short stay.  Ashlee is an extremely talented pianist, whom I’ve been friends with since seventh grade.  Even though we live in completely separate parts of the country now, we always seem to pick up right … Continue reading

The Red Hat

Hubs-Me

It was a BEAUTIFUL night in NYC. The Hubs and I headed up the Hudson River to The Red Hat in Irvington, NY for a picturesque dinner. We started with a drink on the rooftop bar that overlooked the Hudson River. I had a strawberry sangria, which featured a deep red wine, strawberry puree, freshly squeezed citrus juices and vodka.  A refreshing drink to start the evening. After ordering our drinks, we were called to our table on the patio. It was windy on the patio, so the hostess offered guests red pashminas, which I thought was a cute touch. … Continue reading
