Gateway to the West

ArchUs

This past weekend the Hubs and I flew to St. Louis, Missouri for a wedding. While, I was at Penn State, I shared my laboratory office with a very talented scientist who was getting married to her equally-talented scientist fiance’.  I betcha they’ll have really smart kids Saturday morning, Hubs and I were up early and ready for a fantastic St. Louis breakfast. We were staying in the downtown area, so we settled on Rooster, which was recommended to us and received really great reviews. After first glance at the menu, I immediately knew that I wanted one of their … Continue reading

Taking It Easy

LGASaladBar

Good morning friends. My foot was feeling a little sore after I was treated for some possible posterior tibial tendonitis, so I took it easy on Thursday and didn’t go to the gym. Instead, I took a certain someone for a nice big long walk and then iced my foot before work. Betcha can’t guess what I had for breakfast. Yep, yogurt with fresh strawberries and some granola.  Sorry that my breakfast this week has been so repetitive, but fresh strawberries were buy one get one free at the grocery store and I wasn’t about to pass that up. For … Continue reading

Welcome Home and Pizza

Pepes-Pizza

Wednesday morning began with a run in the National Mall and another Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal before wrapping up the Society for Neuroscience Conference.  It was raining, so I didn’t whip the Iphone out for any photos…sawy. Anyway, my afternoon consisted of a MegaBus ride from Washington D.C. back to NYC. Unfortunately I was rushing around and almost missed the bus, which meant that I didn’t have time to grab lunch before boarding.  Thank goodness for packed snacks!  Always pack snacks people Anyway, while I was on the bus, the person seated ahead of me kept snapping photos over and over … Continue reading

Charleston, SC – Day 3

Donut-Queen

If you missed my first post about Days 1 & 2 in Charleston, SC, you can check it out HERE. On my last day in Charleston, SC, we decided to conquer the Arthur Ravenal Jr. Bridge, the Western Hemisphere’s second largest cable-stay bridge. There is a popular sidewalk walking/running/biking lane that runs the length of the bridge structure and then some for a total of about 3 miles one-way. Before we set out, we nabbed some breakfast at Saffron.  Upon seeing the buffet, I decided to go with that option so that I could load up on fresh fruit, which … Continue reading

Charleston Bound

Fajita-wrap

I’m off to Charleston, South Carolina to visit my sister!  Wooooooohooooooo! My mom is in Charleston too.  She flew in on Tuesday night, so it’s gonna be a girls weekend Let’s just hope that I don’t have a repeat of my previous trip to Charleston, a.k.a. the worst flight ever. Usually, when I go to South Carolina, I can look forward to getting away from the New York City weather.  However, in checking the forecast this morning, I realized that this time might be a little different. Oh well, I’m still excited to spend some time with my sister and … Continue reading
